Pottery Kebab

best pottery kebab goreme

Testi kebabı at Cancan Cafe in Göreme, Turkey, came highly recommended by two girls from Hong Kong – we shared a shuttle to the airport in Pamukkale 🙂 And they were right. It is really good! Says a picky eater 😀 Only downside, it is so much meat, that I ran out of sauce. Some will not call that a drawback though 🙂 With this dish being a Cappadocian specialty, I was in the right place, so maybe I shouldn’t expect less than great. Beef (or lamb) slow-cooked in a sealed clay pot was a delight for the taste buds, and also for the eyes.

Cancan is a small restaurant, located on the main street, just about where you enter / exit town, on the northeast side. As many businesses in Turkey prefer cash, I asked if I could pay by card, as I arrived. The answer was yes. Later, I noticed a party of 10, or so, was told they had to pay in cash, whereupon the father had to make his way to an ATM, while the rest waited at the restaurant.
