Visiting a Crime Scene

lincoln assassination fords theatre washington dc usa

Why did I go here, to the site of the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln? I don’t know… But what I took from it, is that you need to have special interest in this, to find it worth your time. Ford’s Theatre in Washington D.C offers you access to the theatre where everything is as it was, including the presidential box where Lincoln was shot on April 14, 1865. Plays on the topic are also performed here. I had a look in the museum too. It portrays the life of Lincoln from the beginning of his presidency to his death. In addition it focuses on the murderer John Wilkes Booth, and why he ended up doing what he did. Across the street, you can enter the Petersen house, to where Lincoln was brought after he was shot, and where he died. Here you can also visit the Aftermath Exhibits. The theatre and the museum were more than enough for me, and I didn’t spend much time on those two either…
