Delightfully Different

how to visit wilanow palace warsaw poland

Wilanow Palace in Warsaw is apparently nicknamed the Polish Versailles. I’ve not been to the true Versailles in France, so I have no opinion in that regard. However I do know I found this place, in some instances, very different from others of this type. The sculptures on the rooftop reminded me a bit of Saint Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican. The almost floor to ceiling white statues inside were towering, for shorty, me 🙂 The plafond with a baby foot hanging down from it, like an extension of the painting on it. The African servant and a parrot fresco detail. The neo-Gothic stone tomb outside in the park. They all just charmed me 🙂 I did not go into the park and gardens. There might have been gold to find there too.

Wilanow Place is outside the city centre. About 10 km. Public transportation works.
