Gimme Some…Beignets…

beignet doughnut cafe biloxi mississippi usa

I had never heard of these ones, before a friend of my travelling companion mentioned we had to have them when we got to New Orleans. The state doughnut of Louisiana. Well, when stopping in Biloxi, Mississippi, the receptionist at our hotel recommended Le Cafe Beignet, so we decided it was a good occasion to dig in. Located in a cream and white building on Lamuese Street, the cafe is a lovely place. It looks like a small mansion has been made into a eatery. Many small rooms with a varied selection of decor. Real cute! Great surroundings to enjoy the powdered sugar covered fried dough. It should come as no surprise, it’s sweet 🙂 But what came as a curveball is, it’s empty inside. The whole this is a hollowed out square with thin dough walls. Not much food, so I understand you need to get more than one per serving. Then again three was enough, as said it’s sweet. Still loved the luke warm experience! Accompanied with iced tea and coffee.
