Mo’ Mobile Time

what to do see mobile alabama usa

As we had a 4 1/2 hour drive from Tallahassee, Florida, to Biloxi, Mississippi, scheduled for the day, in addition to meeting a friend of my travel mate for lunch 30 minutes or so outside of town, we didn’t have much time to explore Mobile, Alabama. We gave ourselves an hour to get in and out, figuring it would be enough, as “nobody” really had any good things to say about the place. Well, not bad things, but that there was little to see/do. After parking our car at the Mobile Carnival Museum – great outdoor display! – we rushed over to the eastern part of the Church Street East Historic District to have a quick look. Boy, were we surprised! We really enjoyed walking down Dauphin Street. Even though things seemed to be closed, indicating this was a restaurant/nightlife area?, we loved the way it presented itself. We ended our stroll at the park at Bienville Square, which was teeming with squirrels, before heading back, including a stop at the park at Cathedral Square too. Heading back to our car to leave, we were both bummed we had made this a short stop only, and hadn’t time to roam around more.

For our road trip we rented a car from Alamo Rent A Car.

  1. Is’t it fantastic when you are pleasantly surprised by a place? Especially when you haven’t been able to find much information about it! #WanderfulWednesday
