When I arrived in Sarpsborg, Norway, I just had time to pop by a cafe, before heading for the football stadium. I had singled out Kaffeforretningen Sarpen, because of the waffle and milkshake pics I had spotted online 🙂 When it turned out they were out of Belgian waffles, the lady offered to pimp up a regular (Norwegian) one. Vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, with a drizzle of crushed Oreo biscuits. I’d suggest switching out the spray cream with homemade whipped cream. Would have made it a 10 out of 10. The rest of the plate was gone in a heartbeat 😀
Kaffeforretningen Sarpen sits on the pedestrian main street, and is very popular with locals, a local said. Cosy place. Hot, and humid, latter probably due to the rain pouring down. I guess it is more of a restaurant than a cafe. Lots of lunch and dinner items on the menu, including a Greek section.
Next time in town, if there’ll be a next time, I’m curious to try Mediterranean Bakeri. Looks really nice!
