Beach Vacation in Aqaba, Jordan

what to do see aqaba jordan

How we ended up in Aqaba, Jordan, is a good question. I guess it was a combination of weather and cost. We wanted to lay out on the sun bed even though the calendar said spring, and at a reasonable price. The fact that it meant visiting Jordan for the first time, wasn’t a disadvantage either. We ended up choosing a hotel out in Tala Bay, to stay by the beach, but Aqaba was where life was happening. Or more precisely, Jordanian everyday life. Because this is a very quiet, not much to offer, Red Sea costal city. Having a camel coming down the road among cars on our first night, was something out of the ordinary though 🙂 You have the regulars – restaurants, shops, souq – but it gets boring after a while. Happened upon a square filled with smoking men, tables and chairs, watching TV, looking at what the cat dragged in, us. A colleague of mine who visited Aqaba later, liked the vibe, where he could sit at cafes and bars, smoking and playing board games. A chilled atmosphere. I, on the other hand, am very happy we had added a day trip to Petra to your plans. And regret we didn’t show Eilat, in Israel, which border is just a stone’s throw away, the same courtesy.
