Venice Beach was definitely not my cup of tea. I need to mention I did the boardwalk only. Having seen the canals in Californication, I should have turned left and gone into the quiet-looking little maze. The 4 km Ocean Front Walk is a cacophony, of eateries, t-shirt shops, street vendors and performers, handicraft sellers, artists, characters, fortune-tellers, alternative shops, and eccentricities. And I think I was there on a not so busy day… You can always seek refuge at the beach, which the pedestrian promenade run along. Maybe even get your workout done at Muscle Beach or the basketball courts, if your skills are up to par 🙂 I honestly can’t remember coming across any of them, nor the skate park, which could indicate I got enough of the place, and ran away before I reached that far down.

I’d consider give it another go, to get to enjoy the canals.
