Having seen a friend’s appetising pics, I wanted to check out the restaurant at the newly opened hotel on Husøy, outside Senja, Norway. We decided on lunch, but they serve dinner, and by the looks of it, coffee and cakes too. And I wasn’t disappointed. The fish soup was very nice! Tons of seafood; white fish, shrimps, and mussels, and a taste of something I couldn’t place. The latter wasn’t to my preference, but with just a hint of it, it didn’t put me off, so I easily chowed down my food. The soup was accompanied by homemade bread, and herb butter, and an impeccable view of the mountains on the other side of the fjord. The windows are perfectly aligned. Creating a painting, with the help of the scenery outside. Love it! The inside has a minimalistic style, with both standard restaurant seating, and sofas and armchairs for a more relaxed vibe. In the summer, the terrace by the ocean / fjord, would be a must.
As Husøy is remotely located, with not a huge population in close vicinity, I wasn’t sure if the restaurant opening times posted, were correct. Turned out they were. Staff actually called me back, after I tried to get hold of them. That’s customer service! I was not too keen on driving for an hour, to find out it was closed. Don’t get me wrong, the islet is a bit of a curiosity in itself. Initially, they will be open every day, expect for Mondays, and make adjustments, when they see how things play out.
Storm Hotel sits across the isle, from the pier. Take the road to the right, when you get off the pier. Follow it to the other side of the island, and the hotel will appear on your left.
