The best about Luleå, was flying in. Well, nearly. The church town of Gammelstad was extraordinary! And one of the reasons for visiting. Another, is the fact that I spent many summer vacations as a kid in this area, driving in from Northern Norway, as many Northerners do. Now, I wanted to take a walk down memory lane. Either I have lost all recollection, or things have changed a lot. I guess a little bit of both. Stuff happens in 40 years 😀 The town is on the average. Bigger than I thought it was going to be. Pedestrian main street, lined with lots of shops, even though not for many blocks. The selection of restaurants is also impressive, considering the size of the place. From upscale spots with locally sourced food, to Bastard Burgers, a fast food chain originating here. However, beyond that, not much else. I went on a day trip to lot more charming Piteå, and with more time, I would have gone to one, or some, of the 1312 islands in the archipelago. I had an incredible experience, when I went island hopping outside Gothenburg, in southern Sweden.
